A panel discussion titled “Investing in India’s Future: Capital, Innovation and Scale” at The Summit of Future at Jain University delivered a strong and encouraging message to students and young professionals aspiring to build startups.

The session featured venture capitalist and serial entrepreneur Vinit Bansali and investor-operator Athulya Bhatt, and was moderated by Akshay Muralidharan, who guided the discussion on entrepreneurship, funding and founder preparedness with a clear focus on youth.

Vinit Bansali emphasised that the most critical quality of successful entrepreneurs is deep obsession with the business. Citing global entrepreneurs such as Elon Musk, he said transformative companies are built by founders who remain relentlessly focused on solving problems, regardless of setbacks or external opinions. He urged students with strong confidence in their ideas to start early, stating that venture capital exists to support such founders by accelerating growth through capital, mentorship and networks. However, he cautioned that capital cannot compensate for weak fundamentals and advised students to first gain clarity on what they are building and why it can scale.

Athulya Bhatt focused on preparing youngsters for entrepreneurship, stressing the importance of skill development, structured thinking and informed decision-making. He said students must actively understand markets, consumer behaviour and global trends to evaluate what business ideas will work and what will not. According to him, clarity often emerges only after starting, and adaptability is a critical skill for young founders.

The discussion concluded with a clear message to students: start early, stay informed, remain deeply committed to the problem, and let capital follow conviction.
