Kochi: Business must be driven by purpose and responsibility, not just profit, said industrialist Joy Alukkas, Chairman of the Joy Alukkas Group, while interacting with students at the Summit of Future organized by Jain University.
Speaking about his autobiography Spreading Joy, he credited discipline and transparency for transforming a family venture into a global corporate brand. Early computerization in 1991 and financial transparency helped build long-term trust with banks and partners, he said.
Alukkas highlighted the central role of employees in the company’s growth, noting that over 11,000 staff form the backbone of the organization. He announced plans to honor 382 employees who have completed more than 20 years of service.
Encouraging young entrepreneurs to think globally, he urged them to embrace emerging markets and new media marketing. Commenting on gold prices, he said global political signals influence market fluctuations. Ultimately, he added, success matters only when it creates value for others.
