Kochi: Emerging technologies such as electric vehicles (EVs) and artificial intelligence (AI) are rapidly reshaping the future of transportation and sustainability, speakers said at the session ‘Driving the Shift: EVs, AI & the Reinvention of Sustainable Mobility’ held as part of the Summit of Future organized by Jain University.

Speaking at the fireside chat, Mr. P.G. Ramnath, Mr. Baiju M. Nair and Mr. Afthab Shoukath highlighted that EV adoption is no longer a distant goal but an ongoing transition driven by policy support, technological innovation and growing public awareness. They noted that EVs play a crucial role in reducing emissions, lowering operational costs and supporting climate goals.

The speakers emphasized the increasing role of AI in mobility, including traffic optimization, vehicle performance enhancement, safety improvement and predictive maintenance. AI-driven data analysis, they said, enables smarter transport planning and more efficient urban mobility systems.

The discussion also stressed that sustainable mobility must focus on accessibility, affordability and inclusivity, in addition to clean energy. Strong collaboration between governments, industry and communities, along with supportive policy frameworks and public-private partnerships, was identified as key to overcoming challenges such as infrastructure gaps, cost barriers and skill shortages.

Interacting with students, the panelists encouraged young professionals to embrace interdisciplinary learning and engage with emerging technologies that combine innovation with social responsibility, underscoring that the future of mobility lies at the intersection of technology, sustainability and purpose-driven leadership.
