The recent Summit of the Future, organized by Jain University, sparked a vital conversation on the evolving landscape of international education. The session brought together two of the industry’s most influential figures M. Musthafa Koori, Director of Edroots International and Nicy Binu, Director of Santa Monica to address the challenges and misconceptions facing Kerala’s aspiring youth.

As pioneers in the sector, Musthafa Koori and Nicy Binu highlighted a concerning shift in student motivation. They noted that many applicants are driven by “social media perception” or peer trends rather than academic alignment or long-term career viability. This lack of critical thinking often leads students to choose destinations that do not serve their ultimate professional goals.

Reflecting on his journey, Musthafa Koori shared a personal narrative of his transformation, “Coming from a moderate family in a tier-three town, studying abroad felt like a distant dream reserved for the fortunate. His entry into the industry was born from observing the complex gaps in visa procedures while assisting his brother. This inspired the founding of Edroots, aimed at making global education accessible to the “commoner.” He also addressed the current shifts, noting the tension between the rising urge to migrate and tightening anti-immigrant policies worldwide.

Nicy Binu countered the notion that agencies merely facilitate migration. “We are not just pushing students out of the nation, we are preparing them for the global market,” she emphasized. Binu highlighted that because national policies and market demands are constantly shifting, scalability remains a challenge. She advocated for an evolution in the home education system to better foster critical thinking before students go abroad.

The session concluded with a powerful call for Career Literacy. The directors urged students to look beyond the mere “aspiration” of going abroad and instead. Ultimately, the message was clear: a degree is not just a visa, it is a strategic foundation for a global career.

Energy Poverty Is the Root of Fundamental Poverty; Carbon Markets and Green Financing Key to Conservation: Prof. A.G. Iyer

Kochi: Fundamental poverty is not limited to economic deprivation but also includes energy poverty, said technologist Prof. A.G. Iyer while speaking on “Sustainability: Carbon Markets and Green Financing” on the concluding day of the Summit of Future 2026, organized by Jain (Deemed to be) University.

Prof. Iyer stressed that energy conservation and sustainable development cannot be achieved without effective carbon markets and green financing mechanisms. He pointed out that recyclability remains an often overlooked aspect of energy discussions, warning that e-waste such as discarded solar panels, batteries, and turbine components pose serious sustainability challenges if not properly managed.

He said that sustainable development is incomplete without a robust recycling ecosystem, particularly as renewable energy infrastructure expands. Highlighting the global shift towards transition energy models, Prof. Iyer explained how existing thermal power potential can be strategically utilized during the transition phase to address energy poverty while moving towards cleaner alternatives.

His address underscored the need for balanced, technology-driven solutions that integrate energy access, environmental responsibility, and economic viability.
